The Start of ‘ADS’
Our story began back in 2011 when it became clear that our local community needed a dedicated charity for people with Dementia and their Families. The Charity was registered by the Charity Commission in September.
We have since then, been supporting People with Dementia, their Carers, and Families in Windsor, Ascot, Maidenhead, Slough, and Langley. Many of those original services continued to be available although adapted during the Covid restrictions.
The first steps were taken by David D. Jannetta, our Voluntary Chairman, Founder, Managing Director, and Trustee. Here is a little bit about his motivation to start Alzheimers Dementia Support Charity:
“After returning from several years living abroad my wife and I settled into the local area in 2007. I wanted to utilise my skills to help others less fortunate and so I became a Volunteer for a National Charity later the same year. It became clear that not enough was being done to support the many People living with Dementia within the local Community.
So 3 years later in June 2011, I decided to form ‘ADS’ together with a small group of 5 like-minded individuals and set about delivering those much-needed services to those in such desperate need of help.”
This commemorative milestone has come at a difficult time, however, we hope that we can properly celebrate together later this year. We will keep you posted!
