Bring on the good vibes - Groovin’ at ‘sounds of the sixties’
The 60’s Night Fundraiser ‘Sounds of the Sixties’, held at Pinewood Bar and Café, Wokingham on Friday 13th of June was a night filled with fun, laughter and dancing.
A total of 110 tickets were sold to an amazing group of people who embraced the 60’s theme to the fullest. We enjoyed a parade of fabulous outfits and hairstyles to match!
The 60’s theme didn’t stop there, there was of course also a 60’s themed buffet- including the iconic cheese and pineapple hedgehog, supplied by Pinewood Café/Bar, who also gave us the venue free of charge.
Entertainment was provided by Hi Jinkx, a disco and live music by Faith Brotherson and Russell Pagette, who rocked the sixties sounds - again freely given.
We also had a Photo Booth that was freely provided by Pink Frog Events, lots of great fun photos were taken.
One of Berkshire Birds Of Prey’s young volunteers , Amelia had been making and selling pens, in honour of her grandparent who suffers with dementia. She managed to raise and amazing £100, which she generously donated to ‘ADS’. Well done Amelia!!
People have been so generous in donating things for the raffle and buying lots of tickets, as a result the grand total for the evening was a groovy £2,000!!!
One of the gentlemen who benefits from ‘ADS’, said: “If I were to have a party for any occasion, THIS WOULD BE IT!”.I think one could not have a greater compliment.
Thank you to everyone who came, danced, enjoyed and supported this ‘ADS’ fundraiser, thank you for your contribution. We could not be more grateful. And a big thank you to the Friends of ‘ADS’, the organising force behind Sounds of the Sixties, in particular Marilyn Harris, Margaret Armstrong, Karen Armstrong, Angela Norwood, Lyn Senior, Lynn Smith, Doreen Compton and Tony Benfield. We are so lucky to have you in our corner!
